StickMUD

New update (thanks for telling me LordDaius). StickMUD is back up and running fine. The address is: stickmud.com on port 23.

Yes it's Ivanitch the Frog. Erm, mage...

StickMUD is a MUD based in Finland. Click the link and log in. I'm a mage there and just recently achieved level 100. That means i'm just plain BS >:) It also means i really like playing there so it can't be all that bad. The place is sometimes short on people especially if the lag hits, all the people from one or two countries may suddenly start logging out. An average is about 30 people but this also means you wont be waiting in line to get in. I've seen days when there were only 5 people on and an hour or two later 50. Don't worry it's no lonely place, even the chatter on all the channels can sometimes get damned annoying and i think lately more and more people are starting to show up. (yes you can turn channels off if you want) :)

Stick is mostly a medieval type hack and slash. I say mostly because there are a few notable exceptions. One being, Bharni the purple dino and another the mutant teletubbies. Who wouldnt enjoy slaughtering them at least once? :) Still, the place is full of elves, zombies, dragons, trolls, and anything else you can think of, (Oh yeah and beavers and hamsters too. Baccatas favorites) just waiting for a good fight. And believe me, there are a ton of good fights.

Races and Stats

You can choose from several races. Mostly, the race you choose will relate to the guild you choose but there is nothing stopping you from making an elven fighter for example. There are Trolls, Half Orcs, Dwarves, Hobbits, Elves, Dark Eleves and of course, Humans :). Recently Tron (all hail mighty Tron giver of stats and creator of races) changed the requirements for levels and implemented a new stats system. There are now more stats to be gained but the limits are much higher. Also, starting off is a little bit easier. (lucky pecks)

Questing

To advance past certain levels you will need to have earned experience and quest points as well. Some quests are dead simple. Others will have you pulling out your hair in the first 5 minutes. Also, it's more or less an unwritten rule that you don't give out the answers to quests. Your supposed to be able to think for yourself afterall. In truth though, you will need help with some of them. That doesnt mean you get maps and directions, just that if your a total newbie to stick you wont have a clue where to begin. Anyway, almost all the quests are a lot of fun (the black knight for example) so don't go away crying they suck. They really don't.

PK

PK (player killing) is also a part of StickMUD. There are a few nasty, evil, insane, abused as a child, people in there who will rip you apart just for your corpse. So if you do log in, watch your back and don't make enemies. >:) And if you don't log in, your a coward ;)

Clans

Recently Graah (be afraid, be very afraid of Graah! I mean it, be freaking afraid!) changed our old liege system into the new clans system. What clans are is simply a collection of individuals in the game who bond together under one banner for a common goal. There are no clan houses, special powers, or anything except a small line in your user info indicating which clan you belong to and a private channel with which you can use to talk to your fellow clan members. You decide what the clan is all about. If you don't like the ones available, gather 4 others around you and and create one of your own. I myself am leader of Clan Torment and yes we do the name justice. Currently we are at war with those foul scum from Clan Alliance. You will die, and when you come back you will die again. And if Clan Stick ever forms together under the clans system i promise you a brutal and protracted war. >:)

Guilds and Guild Raids

Probably the most fun thing about stick. The mud is divided into guilds. Fighters , Necromancers , Healers , Priests , Thieves , Ninjas , and Mages. Guilds are where you gain abilities, spells, skills, whatever you want to call it. Simply put, it's where you get the power to go out and destroy stuff. Guild halls are open areas, not closed off or inaccessible to other players not of that guild. That means, every once and a while some evil, overpowered, son of a bitch will come in, wipe out your guards, and start slaughtering everyone in sight. It's defend or die in a guild raid, which means you'll be seeing a lot of me inside your guild. >:)

Town Raids

Don't know how else to describe it but anyway, if dying in the wilderness of Stick or meeting up with a mad PK'er isnt enough for you, every once and a while the coders of Stick get a little more than pissed and start sending out GARGANTUAN monsters to run through town killing all the players in sight. There are a few rewards of course if you do manage to kill one but then, it usually takes quite a lot of work to put one away and most people die. Beware of Nyarlathothep, besides his butt is mine >:)

Forget it. You people scare me.

Now, don't get the wrong idea. StickMUD is not some kind of slaughterhouse filled with the criminally insane, but for a totally new player it may sometimes feel that way. :) The people there are very friendly and even in the middle of a war some will stop to help the new guy. You wont be hunted the second you log on. But i'll be honest, everyone eventually gets PKilled at least once or twice. Still, everyone remembers how hard it was to get started the very first time so you will get help from people. Even so, it's no easy place for the utter newbie, your bound to make mistakes and you WILL die your fair share even if you don't PK. Just like everyone else, you will learn with time, die less often, and most importantly, have a lot of fun doing it. :)

For those who hate Boo

This is a new section for those who hate Boo. Who is Boo? Boo is Baccata's pet rat (hampster, but we say rat) whom everyone loves to hate. We don't know why we hate him, we just do, it's fun. So i decided to start a page here to give the rest of the rodent haters out there a chance to tell us how they would kill Boo the Intergalactic Rat if they ever got a chance. Click here to read other peoples ideas and send me some ideas of your own. :)

Coders

I suppose i should write a line or two in appreciation of all the administrators and coders who have created the game, keep it running, put up with our whines and complaints, and continue to keep the cheaters and true assholes in check all for the love of writing code and bringing new ideas to life. Even if you don't see them, there is a group of active coders there and very busily writing new code, making new ideas happen, watching you cheat, and sometimes laughing their asses off at you. But nah, what a waste of space THAT would be ;)

Portal Chambers. Watch thy step.

Oozork's StickPics page - Oozork (stranger than his name implies) started a picture page of all the users in Stick, including coders. Still I wish he would quit changing the link. ;)

This page is always under construction. Give me your stickmud links and i'll add your pages here.
